Juice Fasting and Baggy Skin

Does juicing for weight loss automatically equal baggy skin?

NOPE!

This goes back to that conversation about juicing NOT being a diet… which I think I’m going to have to do another video about. On a traditional diet, you may not get all the nutrients you need, and your skin’s elasticity will reflect that. However, when you’re juicing, your skin is literally screaming “HALLELUJAH! NUTRIENTS!” and rejoicing at the fact that you are mainlining spinach on a daily basis.

Yes, your skin screams hallelujah. Have some juice and then take a listen.

Now, are there other things you can do to ensure your skin stays gaw-jus? Absolutely! Let’s talk about how to keep your skin tight and firm while shedding the pounds.

  1. Hi Carla, just finished watching your Juicing for weight loss – baggy skin. I have a question concerning the “MSM”. First of all I don’t live in the USA, so, in what form does the MSM comes in? And can I get it through Amazon. com? And how does one really use it on their skin?

    • Hey Dee! MSM comes in both liquid and powder form, which can be added to your juices. The taste is pretty intense at first, so start with a little in your juice (which will mask the bitterness) and work your way up. They also have MSM soaps and lotions that can be applied directly to the skin. And yes, it can be found in all forms on Amazon!

  2. What brand of coconut oil do you use? I see there is raw coconut butter and also extra virgin coconut oil. I have heard it is great to put on cuts too, but I would appreciate your advice on what to buy.
    Joy!

  3. AWESOME!!!! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN MY SISTA FOR YOUR WONDERFUL VIDEOS AND INFORMATION. AS A WOMAN THAT NEEDS TO LOSE OVER 100 LBS I AM TRULY CONCERNED WITH THIS ISSUE OF SAGGY SKIN BUT ONCE AGAIN, THIS AWESOME LIFESTYLE OF JUICING AND RAW IS PROVING TO BE THE BEST CHANGE I HAVE EVER MADE. THANK U!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Marilyn,
I have personally lost over 110 pounds following an unprocessed, vegan diet including tons of raw foods. Even though my body will never look like what it would have had I never gained the weight (stretch marks), I do not have loose skin and no one ever believes I used to be so heavy. I know doing it right by nourishing my body with healthy living foods has really helped. I have kept the weight off for over 5 years and I have had two kids since the initial weight loss too. I know you can do it! Stay positive, focus on how good you feel and your body will respond in beautiful ways! Best to you!

  6. Hi Carla,

I’m just seeing this page for the first time and hope to hear back from you soon. I am starting a juice fast initially for 10 days in about a week and 1/2 from now and would like to go longer with it, but will see how well I do with it first. I gained my weight in pregnancy 20 years ago and was always slim my whole life prior to that. My weight has increased over time until I’m now about 270 lbs. approximately give or take. My goal is to ultimately get to around 130-140. I’m just under 5’6″ so I think that is a reasonable weight to shoot for. At 55 yrs. of age, besides my health, my biggest fear is saggy skin. Do you think there is any hope for me to have normal skin given my age and the amount of time I’ve been overweight? You’re gorgeous skin sure gives people like me hope. Has it always been so luminous?

    • Hey Marian!

I’ve always had good skin, but juicing and veggies have made it even better! As for your skin, I ALWAYS hold out hope. The way your skin will react will depend on how you treat it. You can work with supplements (like MSM and Evening Primrose Oil) to nourish your skin from the inside, and I always recommend exercise (especially weight training and rebounding/trampoline bouncing) to give it that extra help. 55 is NEVER too late, hon! Try it and see how you do!
