Stay Perfect in Your Word

Being the Type-A Virgo that I am, I have always fallen prey to the problem of “perfectionism”. I know it’s a bad word. However, let’s explore how we can turn that around…

On the half-way mark video, Troy said something that struck me pretty profoundly. He made the point that no one who embarks on this plan does it perfectly. Things come up, crazy stuff happens (like power outages!), and no day happens exactly like it’s planned. What I have admired the most, however, is that no matter how crazy the days get, Troy and Marc have remained perfect in their WORD and have stuck to the plan without looking back.

That’s a form of perfectionism that I can get behind.

If you say you will do the thing, do the thing. Stay perfect in your word to yourself about the thing that you gave your word to. It’s not about doing the thing perfect-LY… it’s about staying in the thing and doing the thing so that the thing gets done as well as the thing CAN be done… in the thing… thing.

Juice Fasting: When the Ta-Tas Shrink

Here we go. Another “real talk” video from yours truly!

Let’s talk tits, ladies. Boobies. Bongos. Dirty Pillows. The Dairy Department. The Rack. Melons. “The Girls”. Titties… the list goes on. Girls, we all have ‘em, and we all love ‘em. Well, I can’t speak for you, but I love mine!

I have always looked at my Girls as the best feature on my body below the neck. I tell ya, I wear these puppies with pride! So, when I go to put on my strapless bra the other day and notice there’s less breast to fill the cups, I was taken aback!

Sound the alarm! The Ta-Ta’s are a-shrinking! THE TA-TA’S ARE A-SHRINKIN’!

This is a sensitive subject for women… and I can say especially women of color who are known (and revered) for their curves. So, how do you deal when the curves begin to LESSEN as you make healthier lifestyle choices?

Stop. Don’t panic. The wrong approach is to yell at the top of your lungs, “Oh HELL NAW! Gimme some french fries and a donut! STAT!”

The correct and more sane approach is to realize that your body is being reshaped, and that’s a good thing. It’s a great thing, actually. Yes, your body is changing, and that’s a change for the better.

Let’s chat about the Cha-Cha’s, shall we?

Juice Cleansing: Three Tips to Juice For Less

People are ALWAYS asking me how to juice for less money. Here are a couple of tips for you!

Tip #1: My very favorite place to shop for produce is my local Asian or International market. The fruits and veggies are SO much less expensive than conventional supermarkets, and the produce variety is much better. Do a Google search to see if there’s one in your area, and then go explore!

Tip #2: I am a big fan of buying produce with the highest yield (meaning, the fruits and veggies that give ya the most juice). Even though I love adding kale to my green juices, I’ll use another high-yield veggie as a base. Here’s a list of some produce that’ll give you the biggest bang for your buck – mix and match at will!

  • Celery
  • Cucumbers
  • Carrots
  • Citrus fruits (orange, grapefruit, lemon)
  • Cabbage (red and green)
  • Romaine
  • Beets
  • Apples
  • Pears

These are the fruits and veggies that produce the most juice. By using these as a base for your recipes, you’ll stretch your dollar further.

Tip #3: If you want to buy organic produce on the cheap, hit the big box stores! As much as I ADORE Whole Foods, Costco and Walmart have great organic stuff for less.

And remember – I suggest only buying produce enough for 3-4 days worth of juice. Any more than that, you risk the chance of it going bad…and the LAST thing you want is to throw your hard-earned money in the trash.

Now, go forth and juice! And if you have any other tips, feel free to share them below in the comments!
